Geyser C Series

The C-Series is a High Efficiency Air-to-Water Heat Pump Water Heater. This is the most efficient way to heat water, drawing energy from the ambient air and thereby saving 60% – 75% in costs over an electric water heater.

The C-Series can be attached to most existing or new storage tanks and is suitable for drinking water applications, ideal for restaurants, apartment buildings, hotels, etc. It can generate hot water up to 150°F.

Custom solutions include high temp. systems operating up to 220° F (104° C); patented Cold Climate systems operating at temps as low as -20° F (-29° C); commercial systems increase savings by off-loading the A/C through cooled air or water coils; industrial applications include pasteurization in hot fill lines

Water heating is one of the largest uses of energy in many commercial and industrial situations. Water is heated in various ways, most of them not very energy efficient. Heat pump water heating is recognized as the most energy and cost efficient way to heat water. That is where Nyle focuses.

What applications are suitable for heat pump water heaters?

Our commercial units range in capacity from 25,000 BTUH to 250,000 BTUH, generating from 50 to 500 gallons of hot water per hour. These units can heat water efficiently up to 150F and are ideally suited for restaurants, hotels/motels, apartment buildings, laundry facilities, health care facilities, schools, sports arenas, gyms, institutions such as prisons, military barracks, specific manufacturing plants, and more.

How does the GEYSER® work?

Heat is extracted from the air surrounding the unit and utilizing heat pump technology, that energy is used to heat the water in your storage tank. In many parts of the world, heat pumps are considered a source of renewable energy, like wind or solar. As a by-product of heating water, they cool and dehumidify the air. This air can be ducted to where it reduces the load on air conditioning, further increasing your savings.

How energy efficient are the commercial Geysers?

Performance for commercial units is usually expressed in a Coefficient of Performance (COP). In typical installations our commercial units, achieve COPs ranging from 3-5. This means it creates 3-5 units of renewable heat from the air for every 1 unit of electricity required to run the unit. This 300% to 500% efficiency compares with efficiencies of traditional water heaters of approximately 70% for gas or oil to 90% for electric water heaters. Overall savings on the commercial side are typically 60% – 75%, including stand-by losses, etc. For all heat pumps, performance is impacted by a number of factors including the ambient air and water temperatures.

The investment payback period is typically 1 – 3 years (based on US energy prices), depending on a number of factors, including how much water you use.

Are these units difficult to install or maintain?

They can be installed indoors, in utility rooms, kitchens, etc., or outdoors in warm climates. They operate efficiently as long as the ambient air temperature is at or above 45°F. They connect to electric, oil, gas, or propane hot water tanks. The pumps have been sized to allow for 25 feet of piping to and from the storage tank (additional pump can be added during install if the run is longer). Maintenance is as simple as periodically cleaning the air filter provided on the unit. They are manufactured in Brewer, ME, USA by Nyle Systems, a company with 35 years of experience building energy saving heat pump systems, meaning quality, reliability and service.

Key Features and Benefits

The table below outlines our range of standard units, from the C25 to the C250.

Product Specifications:

  • Typical operating at COP from 3.0 to 5.0, meaning it is expected to save 60% – 75% versus the costs of running an electric water heater.
  • The commercial units heat water efficiently up to 150F, easily meeting requirements to keep storage tanks heated at 140F.
  • The air surrounding the units is being cooled and dehumidified, reducing the need for air-conditioning and further increasing savings.
  • Can be connected to any storage tank water heater, including: Electric, Oil, Natural Gas, Propane.
  • Can be disconnected and reinstalled with other tanks in case you change tanks.
  • Minimum ambient temperature to run is 45°F. If the temperature can go lower, having a back up heat source for just those occasions is recommended (can be the heating element in the existing tank). Drinking water lines implies it should not be exposed to sub-zero temperatures (the water in the pipes can freeze-up).
  • Vented Heat Exchanger (double walled), required for applications involving heating of drinking water.
  • Painted aluminum cabinet provides superior protection against corrosion. Cabinet is insulated to minimize noise levels.
  • Uses environmentally friendly R-134a refrigerant and an energy efficient scroll compressor
  • Comes with one year limited warranty

Power Requirements:

  • 208-230v/1 phase/60 Hz Maximum Fuse Size (MFS) 80 amps. Wire Sizing Amps (WSA) 50 amps.
  • Alternate Power Options: 208-230v/3 phase/60 Hz; 440-480v/3 phase/60 Hz; 575v/3 phase/60 Hz; 220-230v/1 phase/50 Hz; 400v/3 phase/50 Hz

Options and Accessories

  • Corrosion resistance package: The corrosion resistance package includes coated coils (corrosion resistant aluminum cabinet is standard).
  • Quality Temperature Controller with tank probe.
